Consolation Lake to Taylor Lake via Panorama Ridge Scramble on 10-Sep

Lots of rain was what was happenning on our way to Panorama Ridge, but as we walked into the Lakes, the rain stopped. The cloud cover still encapsulated the top of the ridge so headed towards Taylor Pass via the Lakes. The large, lichen covered rocks made for a very difficult trail hike along the lake. The map shows a trail around the lakes BUT it is terrible. Rocks on one side and tree debris on the other.

We made it past the lakes when the cloud lifted and our goal became visible. We went up the skyline ridge (in the picture below) which was directly under the south peak. Kicked stepped in the snow and loose scree.

We ascended to 8200 feet (leaving a 1000 feet to go still) and called it a day. Very hard slogging up this slope, but the views did open up. Great view of the lakes, Babel mountain and tower, Mt Temple was still in a cloud, and a great view of Mt Quadra and it's glacier.

The Larches are turning, as Evelyn and Nicholas pose to show the golden colors of the trees.

When we returned to the parking lot, we still had not experienced any rain until we were driving away from Moraine Lake. Great day for Greg, Damian, Nicholas, Evelyn and I.
