Seventy Buck Viewpoint 455582 Off-Trail Hike on 2-Jan-2012
It was warm like summer, 12 degrees in toasty sunshine on mostly bare south-facing slopes, with almost no wind. Ah, global warming, you gotta love it! This wasn’t the first time we have gone up Seventy Buck Ridge in December or January, but it was pure joy to lounge at the top with the full view, no hat, no gloves, no coat, just delightful warm sunshine. After lunch we went on to the second top to get different views. It was 1,000 feet straight up to the top, with a small descent to the saddle and up to the second top, which was the same elevation. We were back to the cars, parked in the relatively cold (plus 1) shade in the Sibbald Creek canyon, by 2:45 p.m.
