Paradise Valley (2nd bridge 560931) Trail Skiing on 18-Dec-2011

Despite the road report predicting poor driving conditions, 6 Ramblers showed up for the white-knuckle drive to Lake Louise. By the time we reached Castle Junction, the road was wet and bare with glimpses of blue sky. Not long after we started skiing, the snow stopped falling and the afternoon weather was quite pleasant.

.We skied down the freshly groomed Tramline trail, up Moraine Lake Road to the Paradise Valley summer trail then up to the junction with the Moraine Lake trail. A snowed-in trail could be seen going up the creek so we followed that to the first bridge then continued on the normal trail to the second bridge before turning around. The temperature was about -3C so the snow sometimes clumped under the skis but mostly it was good ski conditions.

This time the weather forecast was accurate making for a very pleasant ski day. Thanks to Roseanne, Philip, Stan, Rita and Maria for coming along despite the slippery road conditions in the morning. Yolande (C/S)
