This hike was called as a memorial to Wally Drew,a member of the Ramblers since 1956, and who passed away in January at the age of 93. Wally was instrumental in the building of the trail over Centennial Ridge and Mt Allan and so seemed a fitting place to remember him.

A few former members were able to join the group for a short distance on the lower part of the trail where we stopped to share stories of Wally. A thermometer was hung in the shade to record the temperature for the trip report as Wally would have done! Temperature was 8C. Those who were not able to make this trip but wanted to share their memories were able to do so via Deirdre.

From there, some returned to the parking lot and the rest of us continued up the trail to the open, grassy slopes beyond treeline where we stopped at a viewpoint. A few continued on to Olympic Summit and the rest had a long lunch basking in the sun. Although it was warm in the sun, the thermometer hung in the shade only showed 10C. After lunch, we shared a few more memories of Wally and then it was back down to the parking lot.

The two stops on this trip where we shared memories of Wally are his final resting place.
