Ten of us left Calgary and started from the weather station just south of the Bow Summit Parking Lot. We skied up the tight hard packed trail through the woods to the lower slopes of Observation Peak. The snow in the alpine was crusty but there was softer snow in the trees. However, the weather was deliciously warm and sunny.

Oink Oink. Around 3 pm we headed back towards the cars and drove to the Truffle Pig Lodge in Field.

Luckily for us Nancy and Arnold had a kitchenette suite which enabled us to meet for shared dinners and appetizers.

The next day, Wednesday, we once again, searched for powder; but had no luck.  We toured through the valley bottom to check out the various slopes below Dolomite Peak.

.  On Thursday, we went to Bow Summit and skied up the end of the road where we skied in the trees and actually found some powder.

We decided on Friday to ski from the Lake O'Hara Fire Road towards Lake Louise on the Great Divide Trail. Here we had more luck. There was a skier track that we followed to the end where we were greeted by a cacophony of howling dogs impatiently waiting to mush. Off they went, and off we went at a much slower pace along the Telemark Trail and then the Great Divide Trail back to the Lake O'Hara Parking lot.

The warm and sunny weather made up for the less than ideal skiing conditions. It was a nice change to stay in Field rather than make the daily trips to Lake Louise.

Thanks to Rosanne, Philip, Manfred, Nancy, Jim, Ed, Chip, Celine and Arnold.
