It was another beautiful day with warm sunshine and dry trail conditions, except for the sheet of ice around the West Bragg Creek trailhead.  The temperature dropped from 11 to minus 2 from Bragg Creek to the trailhead, but the Chinook breeze soon warmed it up as the sun shone from under the Chinook arch.  We were looking for the famous injured bear on the drive past Springbank Road on Highway 22, but on the way out we saw a coyote in the stubble field instead.  On the return we did see the bear, and two deer as well, in the field.

We hiked the very scenic Boundary Ridge trail, having a leisurely lunch at the high point, with fabulous views.  After lunch we carried on to the brand new Iron Creek section of the Trans-Canada Trail, coming out onto Range Road 54 in Rocky View County.

We only needed spikes around the West Bragg Creek base area and the TCT section.  On the rest of the route it was hard to remember it is December.

The sun set at 3:36 and we were back to the cars at 4:10, having covered about 15 km and 400m of elevation gain.

Participants: Carl, coordinator and scribe, Peter, and Michael, on his first Ramblers trip as a new member--welcome!
