I was not optimistic about this trip at all when we met at Shouldice at 7.30am. In Calgary it was quite cool and windy, with the weather people warning of showers and wind. On the drive out it looked pretty wild and miserable to the north west, but quite reasonable to the south west where we were heading. But how long would it last? Fortunately for us, all day. After parking the 2 cars just south of the 14km road marker we started down the trail marked by a cairn about 9.10am. It was +8c and no wind here in the valley.

We followed the trail branching right where needed to follow a stream bed up into the open gully and gain the ridge south of Belmore Brown. We then all walked north a bit to the nearest bump and while 4 continued to Belmore Brown peak the other 2 found a sheltered spot for lunch on the ridge. On Belmore Brown, we met a woman with her adult son who kindly took our photograph.

We then returned to meet up with the other 2 and all enjoyed lunch before continuing at 1.00pm to Tiara.

We all took the circular clockwise ascent to reach the Tiara peak about 2.00pm. We ate some more while admiring the 360 degree vista.

Then anti-clockwise around the peak to regain the ridge and return down talus to the east more or less as shown in Nugara's book page 158. There were only a couple of snow patches remaining and these did not interfere at all. With breaks we reached the cars about 5.15pm for an 8 hour day. Although Nugara claims 800m elevation gain, we felt it was nearer to the 1070m measured by Harold's GPS in 2016. About 12km. Very pleasant day and company.
