The green hills around Mist Ridge were spectacular in all their spring glory. Mist Mountain stayed true to its name and was shrouded in clouds for most of the day. The clouds rolled in and out, giving us some sun but not quite enough.

We had lunch on the south summit of the ridge, then walked out on the ridge for a distance to get an idea of the extent of the ridge. It’s a pleasant enough hike if not a bit over done by the Ramblers but no one seems to mind this day. We had the entire hillside to ourselves as no other groups were spotted.

On the return, we split the group up, and half of us followed a west ridge that took us over top the Mist Creek trail, down below. We descended down through the trees. It was a pleasant bushwhack. There were no blowdowns to speak of, only some brambles and other low lying bushes to negotiate. Time to descend from the west ridge to the Mist Creek trail was 38 minutes.  We beat the other group coming back down the trail by about 15 minutes so not a big advantage to coming back the conventional way.
Thanks to all for coming and to  Ivan for being my mentor on this my 3rd outing as a Coordinator. Welcome to newcomer Justin and hope to see him again soon.
