Report:

Fun trip. Reasonable weather which was generally hot and muggy, though we saw a few snow flakes at the end of lunch.. About 8 hours car to car.

We started from the east end of Bow River Drive in Harvey Heights just before 9.00am. Initially we followed a trail to the east before heading up into the woods where the "trail" gradually disappeared. We progressed upwards with light bushwhacking and eventually adjusted our direction with the help of a GPS. We crossed a few good trails which contoured the hillside before emerging at tree line below the correct approach ridge.Initially the path was steep and loose but as we gained the ridge proper it became even steeper but solid with varying degrees of exposure.

Ramblers ascend the Ridge of Squaw's Tit

After traversing a few gendarmes we arrived at a col before the summit and unanimously decided to approach via the talus slopes to climber's left rather than the direct slab which was slightly wet and intimidating. After dealing with some lingering snow, we made the summit at 12.30pm for lunch with extensive views. In the varying wind it was cool enough to don jackets and there were even a few snow pellets. Refreshed we started back down at 1.00pm.

Views from the col of Canmore and the 3 Sisters were excellent and provided a good photo op before the tricky ridge descent.

Near the trees we found a good trail and followed it down to the creek bed on skier's right.

Here the trail disappeared in the remains of the 2013 flood, so after a refreshing break we were forced to clamber over the rough creek bed until we met a good mountain bike trail going horizontally. We followed this south for a bit until aided by GPS's we bushwhacked down our uptrack to the cars at 5.00pm. About 10km, 1200m elevation gain in 8 hours. Thanks to Arnold, Ulrike, and David for photos and Arnold and Sim for the GPS assistance. We all enjoyed the trip which is/was a full on scramble with some exposure near the top. Great views of the Bow corridor. This peak needs a new name. The current name is unacceptable.
