Trip Date:

Activity:
Trail hike
Trip name:
Wasootch Ridge
Coordinator:
Yolande
Report:
We reached the summit via the non-scramble route in just under 4 hours which included a short snack break. The wind was chilly when on the ridge since the forecast of sun for most of the day didn’t materialize. The afternoon weather during the descent was very pleasant.

Short pause on the descent

There is a trail of sorts most of the way to the summit though a bit sketchy once you ascend the rubbly section below the summit. A lot of hikers stop at what is called the second cairn but if one perseveres, a relatively decent trail goes along the bottom of the cliffs until you round a corner and look up at the summit. From there the trail requires confidence is negotiating bits of scree and larger rocks that are solid underfoot. Well worth the effort to get to the top. There are ‘trails’ through it if you look carefully. Scramble folks stay on the ridgeline the whole way down.
