Two ears appeared over the hill to the south of the washroom at the trailhead, followed by another two ears , and then a third pair of ears. The ears belonged to three inquisitive deer who came over to see what was happening.

Inquisitive Deer

This constituted our only wildlife sighting for the day. The trail was very dry (except for the two active springs along the Paradise Trail  portion), the sky was sunny ,and the temperatures were in the low 20’s, making it the perfect day for a walk. We stopped for an extended lunch break at the Westside Lookout where we could view the very snowy looking mountains to the west and also watch bluebirds fighting over the rights to use the boxes on the fence in front of us.

On the way back we detoured over to see the Mountain Lookout before arriving back at the cars about 2 PM.
Thanks to Marietta, Valerie, Francisco, Barb, Ginger and Madeleine for joining me. Brian C/S/P
