Mt Temple Scramble on 5-Oct-2003

Clear skies greeted our 9:00 trailhead departure at Morraine Lake. Most people from Calgary must have thought the mad cow disease was rampant in the Lake Louise area, judging from the sparse population of a usually overflowing area. The six of us, Danielle, Denis, David, Damian, Duerden and Deabler (actually John and Greg, but the D's were a humorous moment), were joined by another party of three and a 10 year old Husky-Malamute cross. 11:00 found us on Sentinel Pass and a mere 900 metres to go.

Six smiling faces on the way up. The reflections on the left side of our groupwas due to liberal application of

sunscreen and notsmooth skin as some would have you believe.

Looking back down from Sentinal pass from whence we came.

I am happy to say that we all beat the 10 year old dog up,since he had a little bit of a challenge at the crux, heading up the gully with a little help from his owner, while we squeezed through the chimney to the right. There was less snow than some days in July and August. From the highest visible point to be seen on the way up, a long 300 vertical metre ridge wound endlessly up through the scree to a sunny summit and a relaxing hour of peak naming: "What's that white pointy one to the left of the black pointy one" (respect for my fellow travelers prevents connecting a name with the foregoing quote).

A quick 2 hour descent back to the meadow was provided for by courtesy of the southern scree slopes of Temple, followed by an extended break and another hour back to the vehicles. A quiet dinner at the Outpost to round out the day. Thanks Danielle.

In May 2020, David added two digitized slides.

Various levels of energy at the end of the day. Daniellesure is smiling a lot for someone who is so dirty!
