Right from the start the trail was snow covered , but with other people having hiked it previously it was well packed and presented no problem. We took the short detour to the subsidiary hill with the mildly interesting sandstone formations where we had our first break.

We arrived at the summit before noon and had ample time for pictures , looking for flowers and relaxation.

Mt. Hoffman summit

. To complete the loop first we had to go down to a saddle and the climb all the lost elevation to the next hill. From there it's a steep descent on rocky , grassy ground and open forest to eventually intersect the wide trail that runs parallel to the Sheep River and takes you back to the bridge. I think we all had plenty fun coming down the snow covered slopes ???.
