We gathered at the winter gate and discovered that a bus load of 61 hikers from Evergreen were planning to start at the same time so we quickly moved ahead on the trail. The sun was shining and the winds were light - a beautiful day to be in the mountains. It wasn't long before we were enjoying the expansive views of the surrounding peaks from the top of Prairie Mountain.

After a snack at the summit we put on icers and strolled down the snow covered path off the west ridge coming to our lunch table in the meadow just before reaching Prairie Creek. After a leisurely lunch and a bit of a lay about in the sunshine we were summarily rousted out by a fellow Rambler leading a group of the aforementioned Evergreen tribe. Nothing more to do but enjoy the rest of the hike along Prairie Creek back to the cars.

Thanks to Participants: Sim, David, Yolande, Phyllis, Douglas, Jeannette, Jane, Lenard, John, Jo, Lara, Kate for the enjoyable spring day in the mountains John
