The forecast predicted light winds (gusts of 20 kph), but the reality was a cold, strong wind for most of the trip which surprised none of us given the weather lately. Lots of sun and conversation made 6 hours go by quickly, and the scenery was gorgeous thanks to the thick fresh snow on the surrounding mountains as well as the limber pine sculptures. We continued beyond the second cairn to the last hump before the scramble to the peak begins, and travel on the snow and rock was mostly easy except for some postholing resulting from a misguided decision by the coordinator. It always surprises me how this trip seems to be longer and harder than its statistics would suggest!

Only one photo because it seems to summarize the day nicely:

Gorgeous scenery; at first cairn looking towards second
