The trails on the south side of the West Bragg Creek parking lot appeared to be solid ice, so we all put on traction devices. However, once we started up the Boundary Ridge trail, the ice disappeared and traction devices were not really needed.
For some reason known only to the trail designers, the trail at the top of the ridge stays in the trees and avoids the nice views to the west. Accordingly, we diverted over to the horse trail, which does stay in the open, for a short stop (because of the high winds) to admire the view.

Up the horse trail for a view

As it was still too early for lunch we proceed down off the ridge to the junction with the Snagmore trail to find a mostly sheltered spot for lunch.

Iron Springs Trail

The hike back involved following the Iron Springs trail, which had some icy sections, and the Sundog Trail, and back along the Boundary Ridge trail to the parking lot.
As we were leaving for home, one member of the group had car trouble that involved calling the AMA for assistance. I would like to thank Enrique and Janet for their assistance in making arrangements with AMA and for staying for the 2 hours it took to resolve the problem.
Thanks to Brieta, Joe, Madeleine (Photo), Carmie, Marietta, June, Linda, Robert, Photini, Enrique, Janet, Susan, and David. for joining me. Brian C/S/P
