The weather forecast was spot on, with clouds and a temperature of –2 at the trailhead. Just before lunch, the sun came out to make the day quite pleasant for hiking. We stooped at the high point of the ridge for lunch.

Although the Long distance Ridge is mostly tree covered, there are ample opportunities to enjoy the views to the west and the east .At 9.7 km and 330 m, I think that this hike makes a good half day hike that is close to home and compares with others such as Cross Conservancy (8 km, 250 m), Jumpingpound Loop (10.5 km, 315 m), and Glenbow Ranch (10 km, 260 m) . When hiked clockwise, the grades up are very gentle and the decent off the ridge has nicely graded switchbacks.
Thanks to Brieta ,June, and Karen with Taffy for joing me. Brian C/S/P
