It's a bonus any time you can scramble to the top of a mountain peak at the end of October.
Wasootch Peak from the trail head Our group of 6 left the trail head just before 10 AM and headed up the well worn trail to Watsootch Peak. The 900 metres of elevation gain over 3 kilometres meant that we soon shed layers as we made our way through the trees and up on to the ridge. Near treeline, with the wind starting to increase, we layered up and headed up the final slope towards the summit ridge.
A perfect spot for a photo on the ridge

The Fortress and Mount Kidd from the upper ridge In two and a half hours after leaving the trail head, the group reached the summit of Wasootch Peak.

Looking North towards Barrier Lake from the summit The brisk westerly wind on the summit meant only a 15 minute stay on the summit to take in the views. We then decided to head back down to a sheltered spot on the upper ridge to have lunch.
Short scrambly bit below the summit on the way down The group enjoyed a long lunch break in the sun and out of the wind.

Our pleasant sunny lunch spot We retraced our route back down to the vehicles, arriving back at the trail head at 2:30 PM. My thanks to Inge,Jane,Barbara,Marianne and Maryse for their humour and conversation and for joining me Kevin (C/S) on a shoulder season scramble in the mountains
