Despite being such an easy low-elevation walk, this trip was more rewarding than one might expect. Granted, the clear blue sky disappeared under thick cloud within the first hour, but the wind remained light and we saw only a few other hikers all day. The variety of landscapes and views was enhanced by bright bunchberries, beautiful lichens in the rock field, the hugeness of Hidden Lake’s empty bowl, and an unexpected pika sighting. We returned the same way rather than completing the loop.

We saw and heard many different birds, including a grouse, woodpeckers, dippers, and TWO golden eagles plus a bald eagle.

Many thanks for such a fun day to Margo, Cristina (photos), and Lara (on her first Rambler trip - welcome!) from coordinator Ingrid.
