We left the Sawmill trailhead under blue skies and brilliant sunshine with no smoke to be seen or smelled. In a little over one hour of mundane forest walking we reached the lake where we had the first of many breaks

There are a few waterfalls in the way to the upper valley. most notable the one where the creek emerges from a cave in the cliff

There are three tarns in the upper valley the nicest one being the last one.

After a long and relaxed lunch we retraced our steps arriving at 3:30
