There are a few reasons that I call this hike almost every year. First you have the whole area to yourself as there is nobody around, second there are beautiful flowers all the way up to the summit, and third you can enjoy the spectacular ridge walk with views in all directions. This time no surprises, we were by ourselves on the way up to the summit and back. The day started with the sunshine and blue skies. We started the hike about 9:30 am and soon we discovered that we need to focus on the route finding. The trail in the meadows was wet and it was disappearing in the tall grass. The markers on the trees were hidden and not easily spotted. Somebody put the gray duct tape on some of the branches. I am not sure what the purpose was, maybe it served as a trail marker??? After the three creek crossings we were on the old exploration road. We followed the road to the ridge. We reached the ridge around noon and stopped to have a short snack break. We also noticed dark clouds and heard thunder a few times. It looked like the thunder was approaching from the west. However, we decided to continue to the summit. It was the right decision because mother nature was kind to us and the thunder never reached us. At the summit we had lunch. We did not stay long as the sky was still dark to the west, and we felt short lived gusts of strong wind. We decided to take the lower trail back, just in case of the change in the weather. There was a pleasant temperature all day long starting with 19°C in the morning and about 26°C on the way back. We cooled our feet in the creek before returning to the cars.

Big thanks to a great group of people: Jim,Alda,Teresa,Jane,Ross,Agnieszka, for joining me on this trip, scribe Teresa
