Report: With no new snow and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, much of the trail had icy sections and everyone donned traction devices.

Reconnect Trail

I hadn’t done any hiking in the area enclosed by the Telephone Loop Trail for some 30 or 40 years when Alastair Sinclair was exploring the area (the only trail at that time was the Telephone Loop Trail). It is a very pretty area, and well worth exploring , summer or winter, in short hikes. The promised Chinook wind did not appear until we arrived at the lunch stop at the junction of the Reconnect and Long Distance trails, so most of us sheltered in the trees for lunch.

Long Distance Trail

We were back at the cars about 1:30 after a 9 km. hike with 290 meters elevation gain.
