We met at the Foran ridge trailhead at 10:00am in fairly sunny conditions and maybe 1C. No wind so it felt warm. We then hiked to the very end of Foran ridge and descended a relatively open slope to the trail in the valley bottom. Lots more snow than the last time I did this hike in December 2018. From the valley bottom we followed a fence up to an open meadow where we had lunch in one of the few snow free spots we encountered.

Lunch in a rare snow free spot

Snow covered most of our route

We ascended Windy ridge and followed the ridge trail to Windy point which lived up to its name - very windy and cold. During lunch the clouds had moved in but it was wind free until we reached the point. Here most of us donned microspikes to descend a snow free slope that took us to the valley between Windy and Foran ridges where we took off the microspikes. We angled up Foran ridge until we reached the trail which took us back to the cars. Total distance around 11kms, elevation gain around 660m and total time 5hrs which included a 30 minute lunch break. In these strange times, it was delightful to socialize in a safe manner with a wonderful group of fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
