Rain all day and snow at the top, it was a character building trip. Despite the dismal weather we were grateful just to be out in nature during these uncertain covid times. Not only that, we took advantage of making first timer Paul feel welcome. There was some trepidation about crossing Smuts Creek in the rain but we got it done. The trail up to Pig’s Back hasn’t changed since I was last there a few years ago so it was straightforward. Once we reached the col, winds picked up and rain turned to random sheets of sleet. At the top of Pig’s Back weather was deteriorating so we decided to return the same way rather than complete the loop. A huge shout out to such an adventurous and hardy group. And, Happy Thanksgiving to the Rambler Organization and its volunteers for providing a fantastic outlet to people who have the desire for nature and the mountains, some of us for mental health reasons. Thank you for joining me Jeannette,Paul,Teresa,Jane,Suzy,John. Truly grateful, Christine c/s/p
