Even though we started at the trailhead a bit late, we were able to reach the summit easily by lunchtime. It was a nice day for a hike, with sunshine, meadows full of flowers, and good views in all directions.

Although the peak was somewhat crowded, we were able to find a good lunch spot while maintaining physical distancing.

After lunch, instead of proceeding on the next ridge, we took a detour over the see the “bear cave”, that the coordinator remembered seeing about 30 years ago.

Off to See the "Bear Cave"

We located the cave, but as the entry was only about 2 feet square, it was unlikely that it would have been used for hibernation. However we did get a nice two kilometer walk through the flower filled meadows as a reward for the exploration.

Even so, we were back at the cars by 2:30. Thanks to Madeleine (photos), Carmie, Linda, Robert, Mohsen, Peter, Mary, and Audrey(photos) for joining me. Brian C/S
