We enjoyed a sunny day in the foothills with a layer of soft snow on the trail and making the forest a beautiful sight! There were numerous fresh deer tracks crossing the trail, but we didn’t see any deer in the flesh.

We all wore spikes for the hike, but most of us removed them for the last couple of km in the afternoon as the snow softened in the warm sun. There was very little ice on the trail, so we probably could have managed without the spikes, but they gave security as there was ice below the snow in a few places.
