The temperature was -1C at 10:00 a.m. at the trailhead and not much wind and a bit of cloud. There was, however, more snow than any of us expected with around an inch at the trailhead and later, further along the trail, a couple of inches of the snowball making kind; which caused microspikes to clump up. As we got close to the summit, Susan and Bill received a phone call announcing that they are now grandparents to Jack, who was born this morning. Understandably, with that news they withdrew from the hike to go back to Calgary to meet the newest addition to their family. Congratulations! We continued to the summit and found a sheltered spot for lunch (temp. 5C.) as the wind had picked up. We decided to take the more scenic route along the Riverview trail for the remainder of the loop and were back at the cars by 2:45 p.m.

Many thanks for their great company to Susan, Bill, Carl, Cristina, Margo, Harold, Doug, Bart, Ivan, Yoko, Janice, and Joe from me, Jennifer c/s. Also, thanks to Cristina et al for their photos (to follow). Stats for today from Joe: 14km and total ascent of 475m.
