Report:

Things were a little delayed at the beginning as we made a short diversion to recover some left-at-home ski boots and then ran into a big backup near Lake Louise where they were recovering a pick-up truck that had rolled in the median. There must have been ice on the road last night as there was a tractor-trailerin the median just west of the Lake Louise overpass. Of course they chose to block the westbound lane in the morning when traffic is heaviest to Lake Louise and block an eastbound lane to recover the tractor trailer in mid-afternoon when all the traffic is heading east to Calgary. But, the sun was out and the skiing was excellent with great kick and glide on the trails today. We made fast time up Tramline and had a pleasant lunch in front of the Chateau:

Anne, Barbara & Peter at the Ice Castle

It was very busy there with all the parking lots full. We went up and over Upper Telemark and then down Lower Telemark. There we encountered quite a few pine needles and some moss off the trees, although it didn't affect the skiing too badly. There were also tree bomb debris which made the trail a little bumpy and your scribe just missed getting nailed on the head by one that leapt from a tree and hit the pack on my back. But the return on Great Divide had super kick and glide. When we crossed the road to hike back up to Tramline the traffic up to Lake Louise was backlogged down the road as far as we could see. The run down Tramline to the parking lot was fast, you didn't have to pole if you didn't want to.

The happy participants were: Ron C/S/P, Barbara, Peter and Anne
