Report:

We had a very pleasant day doing a loop hike that included Foran Grade ridge and Windy ridge. We ascended Foran Grade and hiked along the ridge to the end where it descended and joined Windy trail. After leaving the established Foran Grade trail, we went off trail by remaining on the ridge crest and negotiated a section of blowdown before it cleared off and we followed an animal trail. The end of the ridge can be descended in multiple locations.

Upon reaching the Windy ridge trail in the valley, we ascended the slope of Windy ridge and eventually reached the ridge crest after stopping for lunch.

Lunch part way up the slope of Windy ridge

There is a well established trail on Windy ridge. We followed it south to the eagle observation point overlooking the road. We then backtracked a short ways and descended a snow free slope before traversing up Foran Grade ridge and retracing our steps to the car.

This was a very enjoyable hike to do at this time of year. Traction devices were used in only a few instances by some participants. Thanks to the following members for joining me on this very social hike. Distance:15km; Time: 5.5 hrs; Elevation 620m or 690m depending on whose device is the most accurate.
