The weather gods gave us another gift of a mild November day in the foothills. After a 3 degree morning in Calgary the temperature jumped to 10 on the drive west, then dropped to 5 at the trailhead. There was Chinook cloudiness so at times it was toasty warm sunshine and at times it was cloudy and cooler, but it was about 8 at lunch at the Pine Grove group camp. The ground was bare but there was a small amount of residual snow or ice in some places. Some donned spikes but most did not bother as the icy tread in the track could be easily stepped around.
