Things didn't look good at the West Valley meet-up point and we were all talking about the very optimistic weather forecast we had read about. As we drove west the mountain peaks shrouded in bright band of sunlight was very promising. At the Highwood Pass parking the sky was sunny with intermitent clouds and +2C temperature.

Stroll through the Larches

This helped us on the ridge accent which we completed at noon just in time for lunch.

Group Photo on top the first bump

Because of the cool breeze the group was anxious to move on.

A long ridgewalk ahead of us

The wintry north side of Pocaterra ridge

Some found icers useful going down the ridge

Snow on top of the ridge did not last long

The temperature and sunshine improved during the day so we were able to enjoy the larches.

Enjoying the Sunshine

The larch grove before the last bump

Larches have not fully changed colour yet

The stream crossing at the end of the hike were easy because of the low water level and some conveniently placed logs.
