Five of us left the Sawmill Parking Lot and found the overgrown road described by Daffern which is now a trail rather than a road.

In fact, at times we were bushwacking. The "fallen giant" is now crisscrossed with many large fallen logs; however, the forest is full of huge old growth trees and quite beautiful. When we got to the avalanche slope, three of us stayed to the right following a distinct trail to the rocky outcrop where we met the others.

The ascent was very steep The final summit block was a scramble 5 on loose rock.

Three continued up and two remained and started a leisurely trip down. where we joined by the others. The smoke on Friday was not too bad and we all enjoyed the trip and the refreshing walk across the Smith Dorrien Creek.
