Five Ramblers pulled into the Lk Louise parking lot at 8:15 am and grabbed one of the 3 empty parking spots. We were on the trail by 8:30 am. We were hoping to stop for a cup of tea at the Lk Agnes teahouse, but lineup was long, so we pressed on. However, there was nothing the trip coordinator could do to stop a snowball fight along the way. I guess some participants were venting their frustration for not having their early morning tea.

The views improved after we gained Big Beehive and only got better when we reached to top of the Devil’s Thumb, about 2.5 hours after leaving the parking lot.

Great views along the trail

The weather was great, with blue skies and white puffy clouds floating by, the views were spectacular all around, so we took our time at the top.

After about 2 hours of lounging around and just about when hordes of people were starting to appear on the top, we decided to head down. After stopping at the Big Beehive we had to fight our way down against steady flow of tourists heading up.

The lake shore was overcrowded and there was a long line up of cars waiting to get into the Lk Louise parking lot.

It was another great day in the mountains with the great company. Big thanks to: Suzy, Ulrike, Gerald and Norman for joining me on this hike.
