The Picklejar Recreation Area has been "reclaimed". There is only a small parking lot left for good and safe parking now.

Finding the trail was quite easy as there is a large cairn to be seen amongst the debris.

Crossing Picklejar Creek.

Short stop before climbing Picklejar Hills.

You follow the trail up to a meadow and from the meadow to a saddle between two Picklejar Hills. Turn left and ascend to a ridge where you will be rewarded with a great panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. We had lunch at the top which we arrived at about 12:30.

Lunch on Picklejar Hills.

If you follow Mike Potter's description, you are to descend to the northwest here to a exploration road that comes up from the northwest, and then ascend to another Picklejar Hill and walk out the southeast ridge back to Picklejar Creek trail and be 750m from the parked cars. That would make a short hike day ,so instead we walked out the exploration road to the Mist Ridge trail and back to the cars at 4:00 pm.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had some sunshine on the ridge for lunch. There was still snow on the hillsides and in the larches, on the approach, and that made for a slippery ascent and descent.

We met some horse riders on the Mist Ridge trail with two unleashed big dogs.

Thanks to every one who came out and to Teresa for the photos
