Three gentlemen (I use the term loosely) from Calgary met three ladies from Canmore at the Barrier Info Center where it seemed like it was going to be a very hot day for a steep climb. But it was pretty overcast south of Fortress Junction which made for a slightly more comfortable slog up the slope to the lovely King Creek Ridge.
We saw a grizzly bear at the side of the road north of Fortress Junction but no wildlife on the hike.
It was an uneventful climb to the ridge and a nice walk along it. Most of the group had not done this hike before.

Last steps to the top of King Creek Ridge

We were at the summit after about two hours. The ceiling was high enough to see most of the surrounding mountains.

After lunch some of us wandered over to the north summit.

This coordinator walked back a little further along the ridge than where we had come up. And so we ended up on a different route (cairned and flagged) that was a little more challenging. Our down route ran quite close to the south ridge, providing views across King Creek much of the way.
Back at the cars very close to four hours after leaving.
Many thanks to participants Greg,Kevin,Barbara and her guest Laura, and newish member Elaine for joining me, Carl (C/S).
