We started up from the wet parking lot at 12.45pm and all donned micro-spikes upon entering the trees just minutes from the car.It was +14c in the shade with no wind and a beautiful blue sky. Progress upwards was steady with occasional stops to shed clothing until we stopped near treeline for a late lunch.Just before this Susan and I had been lucky to spot a brown coloured pine marten which ran away from the camera. We summited soon after 3.00pm and took another long break to admire the views and soak in the summer weather. Some other hikers were in shorts.

We started our descent by 4.00pm and due to the slushy snow were especially grateful for the micro-spikes and poles.

However some others managed without, some by tobogganing down on their pant seats which soon became very wet.We were back at the cars by 5.45pm. EEOR still had significant snow cover

Two of us took in the free talk by Chic Scott and Phil Widmer on their respective "Great Divide Ski Traverse, then and now" at the packed ACC meeting in Canmore, before returning to Calgary around 9.30pm. A great day to be out in the sunshine. 8km, 750m elevation gain, 5 hours.
