A stroll at the Zoo to start the New Year. It started off a little cold so we ducked into the penguin exhibit in time to see the feeding session:

In their element

Once that was finished the King penguins were allowed out for a march in the snow, the first time since the cold snap had started:

The Kings make a run for it (baby in brown).

After a visit to the rainforest exhibit it had warmed a bit and we checked out the leopard, tigers and other furry animals that can live outside:

Never let the cold interfere with a nap - red panda

After stopping for lunch we checked out the relatively new lemur exhibit (they are cute!) and then went into the savanna building:

There was a keeper talk at the hippotamus area; it was not true that during the flood they escaped into the Bow River but they were able to swim out of their enclosure within the building.
On to the Canadian Wilds area where some animals were active and some were not:

Thanks for coming out on a cold start to the day to participants: Anne, Barb, Christine, Teresa, Cristina, Barbara & Carolyn . Ron C/S/P
