What a difference a week makes!  Last Sunday we were out in near mid-summer conditions, today in near mid-winter conditions.  Around -10 or 12 C, a surprising amount of snow on the already groomed (and largely trackset) trail with a few stones poking through.  Mixed sun and cloud.

A Mea Culpa:
I created the trip on Saturday morning, forgetting to change the date (from the default 2 days hence), but caught my error a few minutes later.  Unfortunately the website sweep that creates the emails happened in between.  And so the email went out saying Monday Nov 6 and a few people didn't notice that the calendar entry was for Sunday Nov 5.  I should have initiated a resend of the message after my change but didn't know that the sweep had happened. (I haven't elected to have TL trip emails sent to me.)
Sorry for the confusion,
Carl

The three from Calgary met the one from Canmore in the Nakiska Lodge (downhill skiing open only off the gold chair) and set out around 10:20.  The most challenging skiing was on the short ski over snowmaking hoses and cat tracks down the not yet open run to the bottom of the bronze chair.  Once on the trail proper we were pleasantly surprised at the snow conditions. Well three of us were surprised, Sim had made the same trip the day before!  The climb proceeded uneventfully.

Approaching the Skogan Loop junction

The trail had been groomed all the way to Skogan Pass and so we elected to proceed to there for lunch, arriving a little after 12:30.

At Skogan Pass

The ski down is always the main reward for this trip.

The long, rewarding (but cold) descent

After descending much of the way in the cold we elected to warm up on the High Level trail and then descend the Sunburst trail.  Back at the Nakiska lodge at 2:30.

Many thanks to participants: Sim,John, and Barbara for joining me, Carl (C/S)
