It was a great day for what could be the last hike in summer-like conditions.  We set out from Cat Creek Day use at 10:15am under a sunny sky with a temperature of 9C.  Following unofficial trails and old roads we made the high point on the ridge shortly after 12pm.

Still shorts weather!

Although the wind was light we moved a little lower on the ridge for lunch hoping it would be a leisurely affair in the sun.  However our hopes were dashed after the sun went behind a venticular cloud and the breeze picked up from the north. It seemed it was going to take a while for the sun to reappear so we packed up and started heading south along the ridge.

Catching some rays at the south end of the ridge

By the time we were nearing the south end of the ridge the sun had reappeared and we were nicely sheltered from any wind.  After a nice long lounge in the sun, we descended off the east side of the ridge on a horse trail and followed it down to Cat Creek.  At this point we followed a maze of old roads and unofficial trails down, descending to the Cat Creek Interpretive trail for a look at the lower waterfall.
