Report:
We had a lovely warm day for this late October hike.  Occasionally we looked like we were HUI (Hiking Under Impairment) due to strong winds.

We set out from the Gorge Creek parking area a little after 9 and soon ran into small cells of very warm air. We headed up the wrong trail after a few km but soon realized our mistake. Lots of clothing came off on or after the long initial climb, several of us down to shorts. A few meters later we had a panorama including our two high points.

The enthusiastic front end missed the smaller trail left off the road but were shortly called back by Cornelis assisted by runner Susan. We were at the summit of Surveyors Ridge at noon.

We battled the gusty wind from there to the summit of Mt Ware. But before that we had lunch in the lee of the second summit of the ridge. We took a number of different routes up to Mt Ware.

From there we continued down the ridge with some mild bushwhacking to Little Ware.

We then followed Cornelis's GPS track down the east ridge with some moderate scrambling before we eventually joined the Gorge Creek trail a few km from the cars. By this time we were well out of the wind and the temperature was in the high teens.

Gorgeous day on the Gorge Creek trail

We were back at the cars a little after 4. There was essentially no snow on the entire route. Next weekend doesn't look this promising!
Many thanks to participants: Rosanne, Philip, Laszlo, Gary, Manfred, John, Jeannine, Cornelis, Susan, and Sonja for joining me, Carl (C/S).
