Trip Date: 29-Jul-2012
Activity: Trail Hike
Destination: Rawson Lake 312062
Report:

Although we sometimes get blasé about the beauty of the mountains so close to Calgary, we were reminded again when we met at the trailhead at Upper Kananaskis Lake. The lake was still with the reflection of snow capped mountains to the west. On the trail, we passed Sarail Falls as it empties into the lake. Rawson Lake itself is a real beauty. It is surrounded by towering cliffs, green meadows, and enough snow patches to remind that winter has only just left the area. We had lunch in the an anemone filled meadow at the south end of the lake.

After returning to the trailhead we saw a coyote in the parking a lot, a moose near the road and one lonely mountain sheep that got separated from the herd.

Joining me on the trip were: Marietta, Sheila, Valerie, Hubert, Christine, Jennifer, Bernard, Birgit, Diane, Dave, Barbara, Peter, Brieta, Bob, Enrique, Janet, Madeleine /P. Thanks to Dave for being the tail-ender. Brian C/S.
