Trip Date: 12-Jul-2012
Activity: Off-Trail Hike
Destination: Mist Ridge 512060 Mist C loop
Report:

It was a warm morning with only a few clouds as five of us headed up the trail towards Mist Ridge. We reached the open meadows at about 10:30 and were thankful for the light cooling breeze. ("Thank goodness for the early start" was an oft-repeated comment).

Mario and Laszlo in the meadows

We watched some big clouds forming to the west, since the forecast said thunderstorms were possible, but they headed north of Mist Mountain and soon dissipated. We kept to the crest of the ridge to take advantage of the breeze and enjoyed the continuing display of flowers. We reached North Summit shortly before 1 pm.

Approaching north summit

Lunch at the north summit looking north

After a leisurely lunch admiring the views, we headed back down along the ridge reaching the cars at about 5 pm.

Starting down with view of whole ridge and the 2 Picklejar Hills in the distance

Lots of flowers along the ridge

A thoroughly enjoyable summer ridge walk with Mario, Kathy, Laszlo, Nancy and Doug (C/S/P)
